Cannot connect to server using RTM console
I tried to install the RTM user interface on a xp pro sp2 workstation and I receive the following message when trying to connect to the server. The user account that I am logged in with on the workstation is part of the wsus administrators group and the local administrators group. Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run. System.PlatformNotSupportedException: You have attempted to connect to a server which is incompatible with your Operations Console. Please ensure both client and server are using compatible Microsoft-signed versions of the software. at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Common.ManagementGroupSessionManager.CheckIfServerCompatible(ManagementGroup connection) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Common.ManagementGroupSessionManager.Connect(String server) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ConsoleWindowBase.TryConnectToManagementGroupJob(Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args)

This sounds like the console version is different than the version of SCE installed on the server. Can you check the version of the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.UI.Console.exe file in the Program Files\System Center Essentials directory on the SCE server and the console computer...they should both be 6.0.1251.0.

When I checked the version they were different. The problem was I had two folders with both versions, apparently I installed from the wrong folder, my mistake. Thanks Jimmy

I installed the correct version this time and now I getthis error: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required. Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run. Please run the Feature configuration wizard on SCE server before you try to launch UI on UI only install.

I had already ran that after the installation finished. How do you run it again? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Can you see if you are able to connect to IIS on the SCE server machine (just using http://sceservername.fqdn ) or if it requires going through a proxy server? If this is the case, please configure the internet options to exclude using the proxy for https://sceservername.fqdn address values.

I can connect to it, the page displayed is the default under construction page.

Has anybody had any luck on this? I am still receiving the 407 proxy error. Could this be a rule that needs added to the firewall to allow the remote UI to connect to the server on ports 8530 and 8531?

The windows firewall should automatically be configured on the SCE server, but you may want to validate the 8531 port is correctly turned on. If you are using ISA, a new website rule will be needed to connect to 8530/8531.
