Cannot browse the web

I have a Windows 2012 R2 Server in a work group.  The server was setup to facilitate Remote Desktop/Terminal Server.

Recently, I cannot browse the web using IE (This page can't be displayed), Chrome (This webpage is not available), nor Firefox (Server not found).

I can PING the names of the sites.  So DNS can resolve the addresses.

Did the following:

- Checked, no proxy server in Internet Options.

- ipconfig/flushdns.

- Installed latest Windows update restarted numerous times.

- Ran mrt.exe.  Found nothing.

- No viruses according to Webroot.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Is this a new issue? were you able to browse the sites before?  Have there been any changes on the server or network? Have you checked firewall rules? You can try a program called fiddler to see if there is a any return http traffic.

Does this also affect https sites?  Are you using DSL?

It was working before.  But, it is a new server.  There were changes.  Nothing major.

No network changes.

Checked firewall rules.

I will look into FIDDLER.  Thanks.

I installed Fiddler.  Executed Fiddler.  Web browsing now works.  When I exit Fiddler.  Web browsing stops working.

Not understanding what is going on...

Seems like Fiddler sets itself up as a proxy server for web browsing.  When using it, web browsing works.

Without the Fiddler proxy server, web browsing does not.

Hi Wang,

First, disable firewall temporarily.

Check the proxy settings in registry:

I suppose we could perform a network capture to analyze the problem.

Install network monitor on the server and browse a website. We could analyze the packets to find out the problem.

Here is the guide for Network Monitor:
