Cannot add AD MA after Update Package 1 for Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010 - Index was out of range ...
Hi, I have installed a new instance of FIM 2010 with Update Package 1 and cannot add an Active Directory Management Agent. I even tried to import my previous AD MA from a XML file but I got the same error: "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index". I then removed FIM and re-installed everything without the Update Package and I was able to create de AD MA without problem... I don't have Exchange so I don't want integration with it. Can anyone help? As anyone experienced something like this? Thanks. Regards, Edgar Oliveira

Hi Edgar That happen to me when I update my FIM without stop the FIM Sync Service and the FIM Service. Then I redo all again following the next steps: I installs FIM Sync Service, FIM Service and FIM portal Components. Download the Updates Stop FIM Sync Service, apply the update and restart the server, check that the FIM Sync Service is running. In your case try to redo the AD MA. Stop FIm service, apply the update and restart the server, check that the FIM Service is running. Make you Lab work. Regars

In either of your cases, did you modify the AD schema before installing Update 1, either right before installing Update 1 or before installing FIM at all? I have heard of this and PSS is investigating, there is theory it might be related to AD schema not being default.

We had the same problem after the FIM update if we had run Exchange ForestPrep for Exchange without running DomainPrep (see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ilm2/thread/3a6228fd-daba-4fd4-8822-f80433162701). Once we ran DomainPrep, we could create AD MAs as expected. It almost looks like an issue with enumerating organizations in AD. Haven't seen this scenario without the Exchange involvement though.

I have the same problem as well . I have exported all the MA from previous IIFP 2003 . Imported all the MAs agent to newly installed FIM 2010 synchronisation services. Except one MA during the import , it showed : "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index". at the directory portion . Any ideas ?
