Cannot activate Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastructure. Advice???
Steps I've taken thus far: Site Actions > Site Settings > Site Collection Features (under Site Collection Administration) > Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastructure [Activate]. Once I try to activate it, I get the error that says: Publishing sites and features cannot be activated in the Central Administration Web Application. Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: 024700ee-9d34-4e31-b1c3-c5b08a658249 I have tried to find someone that has the same error as me, but have so far been unsuccessful. I am pretty new to Sharepoint, and would love some wisdom from people who are far more experienced than myself. I am logged in as an administrator, and I am in the farm admin group for the whole sharepoint environment, so I don't believe it's an issue of permissions here. Anyone else run into this error? How do you go about fixing it?

From the error it sounds like you are trying to activate the publishing infrastructure features in the Central Administration site, which is not permitted. Is this the case? If so, you probably have a SharePoint site in a web application that you want to enable the publishing infrastructure in... If you create a new site collection with a publishing template, the publishing infrastructure will already be present. If not, and this is a site collection that is not within Central Administration, you will want to look at the ULS logs to determine if there is any addition error detail. See my blog post about getting the error if you know the correlation ID (as pasted in your post) if you need a hand with this. For the sake of keeping the information in the forums, here is a very short version of what I discuss in my blog about finding more information about the SharePoint error: Grab the ULS Viewer tool.Run ULS Viewer on your SharePoint server. In multi-server farms you want to run it on the server that is throwing the exception. This could be a WFE or application server, depending on the error. I suggest starting with the WFE and if you don't see the error, moving to the application server. In ULS Viewer, start a Real Time log.In your browser, generate the error. In this case, try to enable the publishing features. You should get the errors.Pause the log in ULS Viewer so it doesn't keep scrolling.Apply a filter with the following settings: Field: CorrelationOperation: EqualsValue: (You would enter the Correlation ID you copied from the SharePoint Error message)And/Or: And Apply the filter and you should see a list of events with this same correlation ID. In there should be some exceptions or other messages that can aid in determining the issue. Jason Warren Infrastructure Specialist Habanero Consulting Group habaneroconsulting.com/blog
