Cannot access SharePoint 2007 site after moving data to another AD domain
Hi, We are setting up a staging farm on a test domain. For this we took a copy of the data from production and attached them to staging. In the test domain I created user with same user name as in production but they cannot login. I tried making the user site admin still he cannot access. I hope there is a problem when we move sharepoint data between domains. I ran the stsadm migrateuser comman with ignoresidhistory and it ran successfully, but still user get access denied message. Is there someway this can be fixed? For example, we have 2 domains, prod and test. I setup SharePoint farm (same patch level as prod) in domain test and copied all my content databases and attached in test domain sharepoint. The system account in test domain is “test\spadmin”. Now only he can access the new site in test domain. There was a user “user1” in prod domain and I created a similar user in test domain - “test\user1”. Even after giving him full control on the sites, he gets Access Denied error. I tried creating a new user in test domain that does not exist in prod domain, even he cannot access the site because of Access Denied exception. Is it a limitation of SharePoint that we cannot move data between domains. PS: We are running MOSS 2007 Ent 64 bit SP1 and SQL Server 2005 SP3. We use NTLM authentication. Regards, Manoj

This should work, the problem looks like resolving test domain itself. if you CREATE a site on \test, and add test\* users, does it work?Emmanuel ISSALY - Sharepoint MCTS, MCNEXT (FR).
