Cannot Start a New SharedView Session
I can start Shared View Versioin 8.0.5725.0. I can log in. I can join another session. But when I try to start a new session, I see "Getting invitation instructions", then "Cannot contact SharedView. Please try again later). I checked and found no firewall blocks or other web blocks. I use the home version of Avast! security software. My coworker can connect from the same office. Thanks in advance for any ideas of what I can do.

I have the exact same problem. It started about two weeks ago. Before then, I was able to create sessions with no problem, and I made great use of SharedView desktop sharing. Now, I can only join sessions. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SharedView, but no change. I run Windows 7 x64.I really missed the desktop sharing feature from the old Windows XP Messenger; now that I had a taste of it again from SharedView, I don't know if I'll recover from losing it all again! I'm up for any crazy suggestions from the development team on how I can restore the starting session function. Thanks for listening to me whine.Trilon, Inc.

After checking the issue, it seems this is a general SharedView related issue. As this forum focuses on Windows SteadyState specific issues, this inquiry would best be posted to SharedView forum or newsgroup: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharedviewbetahelp/threadshttp://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.office.misc&lang=en&cr=USThe reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.Sean Zhu - MSFT

Well, I'd love to, but the first link: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharedviewbetahelp/threads seems to point to an archived forum I can't post my question into. The second link: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.office.misc&lang=en&cr=US seems to be unable to find the word "SharedView" in any of the Office Discussion Groups. So, I'd like to know what you found that allowed you to conclude this the a general SharedView related issue. And, I'd love to know how to post my question appropriately. The reason why I ask how to appropriately post my question is my desire to get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly that can either share their knowledge or learn from my interaction with them. Thank you for your understanding.Trilon, Inc.

Yes, the SharedView support forum is archived now. Thanks for the links; they do take me to information about SharedView. However, none of they allow me to access a forum to post my new issue.PLEASE TELL ME WHAT FORUM I SHOULD POST MY QUESTION INTO. IF NO FORUM EXISTS, PLEASE JUST SAY SO. IT WOULD BE BETTER TO ADMIT THAT MICROSOFT DOESN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT AND HELP WITH NEW SHAREDVIEW PROBLEMS THAN TO KEEP GIVING ME FALSE HOPE THAT I CAN POST MY QUESTION AND GET AN ANSWER.Trilon, Inc.

Given the lack of information otherwise, I've concluded that SharedView is not supported, as there appears to be no forum available to post questions about it.Trilon, Inc.

John, Microsoft SharedView responds with the message: "Cannot contact SharedView. Please try again later." when I try to start a new session. Have you any luck with figuring out why, in exclusion of your hypothesis above? I read the thread, and am shocked at the lack of support the MSFT Moderator is offering. Krishnan
