Hi Venkat,

1) Remove every .NET Framework from the machine.

We had previously not removed all versions

2) Download & Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable Package (Which can be obtained directly from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=10CC340B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en)

If that does not work check whether any antivirus is blocking it.

If you are trying to launch Report Builder from Report Manager, it is probably an IE browser permission problem with the "Click Once" download of the Report Builder 3.0 app.

You can work around this by installing Report Builder 3.0 and opening the report from the app.

In Windows 7 you might be able to use Control Panel\Credential Manager to add the Report Server web or network address name. Save User name with domain that works locally for running Report Builder.

Hi saivenkat77,

According to your description, you are able to access test report server, but when you launch click-once report builder from the report manager, the error The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. is thrown out, right?

Regarding the error message, it indicates that the user doesnt have proper permission to run the report builder. The issue can be caused by that the client and server computer are in different domains, or if the client is authenticating the user locally. For more information, please refer to Jin Chens reply in this thread: Report Builder.

If issue persists, please configure report builder access on a report server configured for Basic authentication. For more information, please refer to similar threads below:
SSRS 2008 R2 report builder 3.0 remote clickonce deployment error
SSRS 2012 Report Builder fails to run from remote host - 401 Unauthorized

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Qiuyun Yu
