Cannot Create SharePoint Web application IIS7 x64
Enviroment: Server 2008 x64, IIS7, SharePoint x64 with SP1. The install process when normally except when I visit the SharePoint Central Administration, the link "Create or extend Web application" in the Application Management page is missing. Everything else appears normal. Any ideas why the link is missing? I can't create a site collection. Thanks, Kevin C PS, I posted this on theiis.net Server2008 foruma few weeks ago and got no response. Need some help here guys. Any suggestions welcome.

The user you are using to connect to Central Adminmust be a local administrator for the Create or Extend Web Application link to appear. Cheers, Christian.

Hello,I have found a solution, thanks toDragan Panjkov, who send me this link:http://community.bamboosolutions.com/forums/t/161.aspxYou have to launch IE as an administrator and add the central admin website in the intranet zone.Cheers,--Benjamin Talmard

I had the same problem, I'd added a user to farm admins, made them a local admin on the WFEs but the Create link was missing. It seems that the user, as well as being a member of the Farm Administrators group, requires local administrator permissions on ALL servers in the farm, even where the SharePoint Web Application service is not running. That doesn't apply to the SQL servers, just those servers on which the SharePoint binaries are installed.
