Cannot 'Edit Document' after Check Out
WSS 3.0 I have a few users who are unable to "Edit Document" after checking it out from the document library. Not all users are affected - they can edit documents normally. The error msg thrown is: 'Edit Document' requires a Windows SharePoint services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater. The users experiencing the problem all have the MSOP suite (both 2003 and 2007) and IE 8. Any help or ideas to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is this a str8 intrAnet? 2. Are permissions the same for all users having the problem and for those who are not. 3. If you have Office 2003 and Office 2007 (Meaning any product like Visio/Project installed... lets say 07 but Office in 2003) Try to run the install and change install to Install all items in office. It's a dll the office product fights over... See this link for more info http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833714/en-us We ran into this issue with some uses who had Office 2003 and some other 2007 product installed. What's the "MSOP" suite ? Do you mean MS Office 2003 and 2007 ? If so I hope these are different users (some with Office 2003 and some with Office 2007) because mixing Office versions on the same clients has never been good when accessing SP sites.2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc. 2007 Books: WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.

Hi, According to this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833714/en-us, it is only for "Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0" but i have "Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0" even though aim facing the same issue. what can be done for this? The issue is faced only by one of my client where he is not able to edit the checked out excel and not able to add a new document to the document library. Here are the error messages when tried to edit the document - 'Edit Document' requires a Windows Microsoft Sharepoint Services-compatible aplication and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater When tried to add a new document to document library - 'New Dcoument' requires a Windows Microsoft Sharepoint Services-compatible aplication and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater. To add a document to this document library, click the 'Upload Document' button. Please help me in this case. Thanks in Advance. Sandra

> Hi, According to this As I wrote earlier. 1. Make sure this one user does not have different releases of (different) Office products on the same client. Remember that even products such as Outlook, OneNote and Visio can be regarded as Office products in this, not just Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Even having once had different releases could cause problems because often enough of the deleted product is left in the computer to cause those problems. 2. Make sure the user is running IE. 2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc. 2007 Books: WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.
