Can you migrate the DC to a virtual machine?
If there is only one DC in the domain, can you migrate this DC to virtual machine? To me, it is imposible. Bacasue SCE need DC to work. If DC move to virtual machine, it would be a guest of the SCE machine. Can you help me to clearify this concept? Thanks,

Hello, Please see this article firstly: How to Create a New Virtual Machine from a Server in Essentials http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff603608.aspx In theory, you can begin to convert the DC to a virtual machine. But the DC will be shut down automatically when you creating the VM. In this period, no DC is working on the network. And this may cause to the SCE server's crash. So, I'm afraid tha answer is no. Hello, There's not a designed function to just create a backup VM. However, after the process of creating a VM was completed, there's an option to start the new virtual machine or not. You can choose not to start the VM and then re-start the physical machine.
