Can we stop a collection evaluation once it is started?

Hi Guys,

Is there an option to cancel the collection evaluation once that is started?

Thanks,

Once it's really already started, there is no way to stop it anymore. Also, it should be done fairly quick. To check the progress you can use the Collection Evaluator Viewer, which is part of the ConfigMgr Toolkit.

Thank you for the infor peter. I actually am using CEviewer and there are more than 2k collection n the queue and each one is taking more than an hour to update.

I just want to clear the queue now, and later i will try find the root cause of it..

Is there any Documented or undocumented way to do that ?.

Could it be that a specific collection is jamming the other evaluations? In that case have a look here to remove it from the queue: http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2014/01/20/support-tip-configmgr-collections-update-slowly-or-not-at-all.aspx

I dont really think that's issue in here, since i do not find find any messages related to this in colleval.log and no files in colleval inbox.

Someone started a update on All systems collection and that inturn initiated all the other collection evaluations. If someone can help me out clearing the Queue, i will settle for a while and start digging the root cause of it..

Thanks

WOW each collections taking over an hour to update. I think you have might some serious problems...

How many computers do you have?

Have you looked at your collections to optimize them?

Or your SQL server to identify if there's a major bottleneck there do to not enough resources being available?

Garth, yes it was a serious problem.

It was the stored procedure sp_updatepolicytargetingmap, which halted each and every collection evaluation for an hour. a bit of R&D lead to SQL defragmentation.

We defragmented our sql tables and reindexed.

Everything works fine now.

Thanks for your input guys.

Strictly because I'm curious, do you have all of the built-in maintenance task enabled that "should" have solved this problem?
