Can we have more than one FIM service Management Agent in Synchronisation service ?
Hi, Can we have more than one FIM service type of Management Agent in a synchronisation service. Where both the MA's will connect to same FIM portal but each deals with different object types. We can create multiple Management agents for Oracle databases, is the same behaviour allowed for FIM service Management agent also? If so will it be a good practice of doing it..? hima

This is neither recommended nor supported. Cheers, MarkusMarkus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation

The Sync engine UI will allow you to add more that one FIM MA (this should be prevented in my opinion). A student tried this in one of my classes and proceeded to corrupt their sync engine config - this required a re-install. As Markus said - not recommended or supported. -JeremyJeremy Palenchar

I wanted to post a separate question, but this is somewhat related to this. Is it supported to set up two Sync Engines (on separate machines) to connect to the FIM Service? Does it make any difference if they would be connecting to the same instance of the FIM Service, or different instances (of course sharing one FIM Service DB)? Would delta imports be supported on both Sync Engines? Has anyone done this before? etc :) Piotr

Just read your question again.... I don't understand the benefit of this setup. What is it you are hoping to accomplish this way? Cheers, Markus Markus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation

Cheers, Markus Markus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation Hi Markus, I can think of multiple use cases for a setup like this, for example: distributing the load between several Sync Engines, let's say each processing different object types, attributes going to different systems, or just running on different schedule having a hot standby sync engine (with disabled exports, just playing catch-up) - this is what I'm trying to set up right now having two sync engines, each doing a sync let's say every hour with a 30 min difference - effective sync every 30 min, and if a one goes down everything is still working So the question remains, can two or more sync engines set up FIM MA's to FIM Services running on the same FIM Service DB? And if so, can they run their own deltas? Piotr
