Can we have different port for app-controller to SCVMM connectivity other than admin console port?? Does this port should be same as what is configured for Admin console port??

Environment: SCVMM 2012 sp1.

Admin console port used for SCVMM is : 8100

App Controller to SCVMM connectivity: Also is 8100.

Question:

As you see from above screenshot, app controller is also configured to connect SCVMM using 8100.

Can we use a port here other than whats configured for admin console??

Can we use app-controller to scvmm connectivity port as 8101 and admin console port as 8100?

Do both port ie, app controller connectivity to scvmm and admin console port should be same?? Is it a best practice?

Please clarify.

VMM has multiple clients -- the VMM console, PowerShell, App Controller.

All VMM clients connect to the same port.

Note, the VMM console is not just for Admins - anyone with user permissions in VMM can use the VMM console, and this includes all users who have access via App Controller.

Role based access in VMM controls what each user can see / do.
