I don't know what exactly you are trying to do, could you give more details?. For more information about advanced charts, check this article. All you need to do is add both data series to the chart. Right click on one of them and select the option to change the chart type to line or bar and you should be all set. You can even create a chart with multiple chart areas if you want and put the line in one chart and the bar series in the second chart area. -SeanProgram Manager, SQL Server Reporting Services This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. http://blogs.msdn.com/seanboon http://www.twitter.com/ssrs

You can certainly do this just as I described above. In fact, in SSRS 2008 we have built in calculated series you can add to your chart to do things like RunningTotals and Moving Averages. All you need to do is right click on the series or calculated series and choose to change the chart type to a line or bar. You can mix and match many different chart types, as long as the combination makes sense. Pavan's answer at the bottom is correct. I was just trying to point out that in addition to being able to have two different series types (bar and line) in the same chart area, you can also have multiple chart areas, each with multiple series. For your scenario you can place both series in the same chart area. You may want to configure a secondary value axis on your chart area so that one of the series isn't hidden because of the discrepancies in the values between it and the other series. -SeanProgram Manager, SQL Server Reporting Services This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. http://blogs.msdn.com/seanboon http://www.twitter.com/ssrs

Hi Pavan, I tried to change my 2-series diagram like you described it above (first select bar chart for the whole chart and then select line chart only for the second series). But it does not work. I tried it with BIDS 2008 Professional Edition. Please help. Regards, Alex

Pavan, Not able to do the 3rd step. Cannot select one of the bar out of 4-5 bars shown in the chart area. When I do change chart type, it chages completly. I need a bar chart for some data and line for some data in the same chart area. Do we have to set any properties or include anything before doing the 3rd step..??? -Subbu
