Can join a group thru Portal but not Outlook
When I try to use the Join function from Outlook I always get a knock back from the system: We did successfully add these members to the groups: NoneThe following members are pending authorization before being added to the groups, as requested: NoneThere are no Requests visible from the Administrator account. However when exactly the same user attempts to join exactly the same group through the portal, it works.Other Outlook functions are working correctly. I am receiving approval and notification emails, and I can approve directly from Outlook.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

I sawsimilar behaviorwhere Outlook was set up to send mail with a digital signature by default. We turned digital signatures off and everything worked.--Shawn Shawn W. Rabourn, Sr. MSIT Infosec - ACE Infrastructure Services This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

I don't have signatures enabled. It's a simple environment with basic accounts and Outlook 2007 instaled on Windows XP with default settings.I did enable logging. I can see it going through a long list of activities. It says it has 3 tasks to do in the mail - then does a bunch of checks on the email template object, on the user object and on the group object - all of which it appears to find. It then has a bunch of lines about a Request Object. And thenit reports this error:"The Exchange Mail Channel could not find a resource referred to in a mail message."followed by:"System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object".Update 2 is installed.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

The error indicates that the FIM Service can't identify a user or group which is included in the request, which it searches for based on email address. Please ensure that the requestor, the target group, and members to be added to the group, all have email addresses in the FIM Service which correspond exactly to the email addresses in the GAL.Jeff StaimanMicrosoft Corp.
