Can calendar reminder popups be generated in MOSS2007?
Hi all, In our organisation, we are currently in the process ofdeveloping our new Intranet using MOSS2007. On our new intranet, we are trying out the Employee Training Scheduling and Materialstemplate to manage courses. Whena userregisters to attend a course, is there any way that a calendar reminder, ideally a popup or something clearly visible (other than an email, which may not be read) can be generated to appear 15 minutes beforethecourse starts. Could this be done using alerts or workflows? Or alternatively is there a way for MOSS2007 to integrate with Microsoft Outlook, so that when a user registers for a course, an Outlook calendar item is automatically created with a reminder. We are trying to stay clear of 3rd party software at the moment, unless it is absolutely necessary. Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou, Claudz

SharePoint v3 / 2007 has a two way sync with calendars in Outlook, whereas before it only had a one way sync in the v2 / 2003 version. What you do is create a calendar on aSharePoint site, then go under Actions, select Connect to Outlook. Outlook will then ask you if it is OK to link to the given site. Once you have added the site to your Outlook, you can drag/drop events from yourmain calendar, or create new events directly in the SharePoint calendar. Exchange will sync with th sharepoint event calendar The events appear on the SharePoint site. It works both ways. The answer to your questions is yes. As to having a pop up in sharepoint, sharepoint itself is not dynamic in that sense. You can have a pop up generated upon entering the site as a reminder or have a reminder displayed. You would however get a pop up when entering your OWA via sharepoint. Chris D, MCTS Sharepoint 2007 www.moss07.org

When I sync my SharePoint calendar with my Outlook, all reminders are set to 'None'. DoI manually have to go into my Outlook calendar and set the reminder for each meeting, or can I set the reminder in the SharePoint calendar when I create the meeting? Could not find any such setting. Please advise. Thanks, BR, Anne Isaksson TradeDoubler

How do I define that? I've created an event in my sharepoint calendar. I would like that event to be pushed into users outlook as soon as they upload a picture to a picture library. Is that possible? How do I trigger such things?I'm very greatful for any help I can get.

hi everyone, I understand that my answer is a little bit late (after 3 years :)) I was looking for the same solution (to reflect notifications from sharepoint calendar in outlook) and found the only one that works for me now, here is the detailed description: http://paulliebrand.com/2007/12/11/getting-sharepoint-calendar-reminders-in-outlook/ so probably my answer is more for the people who will look for the same solution in future:)
