Can anybody assist with a best practice guideline for and SQL2008 R2 server install to host SCCM 2007
Hi All
I used to have a link to what I was sure was a technet article that discussed some outline best practice for installing SQL 2005 for SCCM.
I cant find this link anywhere now.
The current project I am on is to recover a somewhat failed installation of an SCCM infrastructure that has 22 regional child primary sites. I have uncovered a multitude of errors and inconsistencies in the SCCM part of the installation however when it comes
to the SQL part I am somewhat out of my depth with regard to setting a standard in line with best practice.
Can anybody assist with a best practice guideline for and SQL2008 R2 server install to host SCCM 2007.
Thank You

There's nothing specific to SCCM for SQL. Just adhere to SQL best practices and don't worry about SQL backups because you don't need them.

Thanks for the Input
John - Id like to know what the current best practice is. My problem is that the DBAs have not installed the SQL portion consistantly. Now I have pointed this out to them they are asking me how I want SQL configured. To be homnest I dont have a clue other
than to accept all the defaults but I am sure I read somewhere something about at least Auto resizing the DB I also asked the question at myitforum and the answer seems to be "there are no diffrences to sql 2005" but if i cant now find the 2005 guidelines
I dont even have a baseline to work from to discuss with the DBAs
Arthur.
Thanks for responding something at least but your link takes me to a article saying how to move the DB - I dont want to move it - just find a template or standard to use as an install guide / supliment

The only thing I can think of right off is that you need to limit the RAM it uses, you don't need to backup the SCCM database. Other than than you are pretty safe just clicking next all the way through the installer. If you are gonna host the MDT database
you need named pipes enabled.
