Can a Site Server be assigned as a client for a different site?
Computers are assigned as clients to Configuration Manager 2007 sites according to the boundaries you configure in the Configuration Manager console.
That's true when it comes to auto assignment, but nothing stops you from installing and assigning (using command line parameters, not auto assignment) a ConfigMgr client (which resides inside the boundaries of siteA) to siteB. You can even operate ConfigMgr
sites without without any boundaries.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

It depends upon the SCCM Site boundary you are defined. How the boundaries are defined?
No, there's no dependency between boundaries and site assignment (except when using auto assignment).Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi,
I will never recommend to a have Management Point in one site and a client in another site on the same box.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

We have one SCCM site for out servers and (will) have one for out desktop systems. As we have different groups managing the patching for each, I am looking to see if the site server for our desktops can be assigned as a client of our servers' site. That
way it is managed, and therefore patched, like any other server.
Thanks in advance.

Hello - How do you segregate the SCCM sites in your environment? How the desktops systems are assigned to different SCCM site and Servers are assigned to another SCCM site?
