Can I use EFS on Onedrive?

With Windows 10 Pro, I can encrypt files on my desktop. When these files are in my OneDrive, they appear to be encrypted (in green) on the OneDrive folder on my desktop. However, when I access these files from my OneDrive from my laptop signed into the same Windows Account, they do not appear to be encrypted (not in green).  Also I can open them on the laptop as well.

My objective is to encrypt some of my files on OneDrive.

Can I do this?

Bitlocker I understand requires me to encrypt the entire drive, which is not what I'd prefer to do.

No. You can encrypt the local copies of files stored on OneDrive but they
will be decrypted before being synched to the cloud.

Hi Argegno,

Yes we can. I encrypt it with EFS with no problem.

EFS is used to encrypt fils or folders that are stored on the drives.

As OneDrive is considered as a shared folder, it should be no problem encrypting it with the EFS.

For the OneDrive online access, sorry to say that i have no idea about whether the encryption would work there.

You may consider seek help at the OneDrive forum:
