Can I control print option for a document?
Hi ada5916, As SharePointNinja and Hemendra said above, there is no printing option in SharePoint. You can’t do this depending on user privilege. But you can control print privilege by controlling the access of users. Could you please refer to this article to get more detailed information: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms458245.aspx. Hope this could help you. Regards.

SharePointNinja, Hemendra, Peng, Thanks to all of you for the reply. First of all, we are not using the SharePoint, so my knowledge is very limited and might be incorrect. If my statement does not make sense, please pardon me. We want to manage the document (doc, xls, jpg, pdf, etc.). We also want to control who can view, print, copy, rename, change etc. One recommended the SharePoint and we are researching if the Sharepoint provides functions we want to have easily. Is it possible in the SharePoint? Peng, I will take a look at the link. Thanks so much again,

Hi, First of all welcome to sharepoint world. I am assuming you have MOSS 2007. >We want to manage the document (doc, xls, jpg, pdf, etc.). Yes you can manage any document type in sharepoint and can provide appropriate permission level for user. It is very easy in sharepoint rather than other technology. Sharepoint supports document library where you can have millions of document. >We also want to control who can view, print, copy, rename, change etc You can easily restrict user to rename and change any file. Sharepoint supports different permissions level from Farm level to item level. Read this article for more permission: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/manage-permission-levels-HA010117209.aspx Now for print and copy, You have to implement Rights Management Policy . So you can restrict user to copy and print any document. For your information please read this article: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/rightsmgmt/default.mspx http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/apply-information-rights-management-to-a-list-or-library-HA010154148.aspx Hope this information could help youCheers, Hemendra-MCTS "Yesterday is just a memory,Tomorrow we may never see"

You can't do that in 2007. The best option is to convert it to a pdf and then you change the settings on the PDF where it can't be printed. Hope that helps, SharePointNinja
