Hi dear, my name is Salvador and i work in a partner of Microsoft Mexico. Today we started a new project of FIM in one of our customers. We write, because we have a problem and some questions about FIMDB installation. We run the installation wizard for the FIM Service and Portal, we pass all the windows information, but when we try to install it send us a error message: We are using two servers, one for all the FIM Features, and the other for the FIMDatabase. The DBA told us that the DBServer have installed SQL 2005 and SQL 2008, the question is, if we can install the FIMdbs in this environment?, FIM can be installed in a DBServer with multi instances (2005 and 2008)?. All the fim accounts have the same permission in the database server (system admin). Before that we have installed the FIMSynchronization Service Successfully.

Hi Salvador, FIM requires SQL 2008 - there should be no way to install any of its components on a SQL 2005 instance. All, you can do, is to use SQL 2005 as a data source for the SQL MA. Cheers, MarkusMarkus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation

Thanks a lot Markus in the same server we have running the two engines SQL 2005 and SQL 2008, and in the installation we are trying to connect to the SQL 2008 instance but was not successful. I belive that FIM looks something and the other instance its making the issue. The error: The SQL Agent for the specified SQL instance was not found.The error might appear if the user installing the product does not have rights in SQL server. Ensure that the SQL server is accessible, SQL server and instance values are correct and SQL agent is running. We verified and the agent is running. Do you believe that the problem can be that we have two diferent instances?. Thanks a lot again
