Can't synchronize user from SunOne LDAP to SharePoint 2010 with FIM
Hello, I'm tryin to synchronize the SunOne LDAP Server of my company with my new SharePoint Portal, I have followed this tutorial : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tehnoonr/archive/2010/11/21/how-to-setup-user-profile-synchronization-between-sharepoint-2010-and-sun-ldap.aspx And everything looks fine, until I launch the full synchronization, some problems happens. So I use FIM to create a new object, that match the structural class used in the LDAP, to import everyone. Seems to work, but nothings is displayed in the SharePoint Administration, seems that no user is created, I can only see the 55k users in FIM in the "Joiner" tab. The import part is really long, about 2 hours, but the export part is 2 seconds long.... So I'm looking for any help to Fully synchronise the LDAP with SharePoint, or to configure FIM to do the synchro. Thanks for your help

What are these problems you speak of when you launch the full sync? If you're only seeing the users in the Joiner page then that means they're disconnectors, which means they haven't been projected into the metaverse or provisioned to your Sharepoint connector. Both projection and provisioning happen as part of synchronization.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

The only problems i got with FIM, is that some of the data synchronized contains special characters, and FIM can't handle this, for some users, but no big deal, I hope so...

In Identity Manager, go to the Metaverse tab and search. Do you see your person objects there?http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Nope, In the metaverse search tab nothing is returned by the search. I'm not sure to do the synchro right, I've created an object with Metaverse Designer, that matches all property of my users, as I can see them using an LDAP browser, and configured the Agent to match each properties with the imported ones. Did I miss a step ? Can't find (or don't know where to search for) any documentation on importing users from a SunOne Ldap with FIM

The first thing is to get the users from the SunOne connector space into the Metaverse. This is done with a Projection Rule. Please check your SunOne Management Agent to see if such a rule exists already. If it does not you will have to create it. A simple rule that projects all inetperson object types to person objects in the metaverse should probably do it. The next step is provisioning. I am not familiar with this Sharepoint version of FIM you're using but I'm guessing that the provisioning configuration has already been done for you - so hopefully once you get the objects into the metaverse you will also see them being provisioned into the Sharepoint connector space. Once this has happened it should be a simple matter to export them to sharepoint. http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

I have managed to get my users to appear in the metaverse tab, with he projection rules, I also edit my user object to match certains attribute that were multi valued for some users, to avoid any errors. But I can't get them into Sharepoint, I try to use the Export agent, but it only runs for 20 sec, and end without any modifications, I'm looking for somewhere to configure the export process.

Can you do this: go to Tools -> Options and check the following options: "Enable metaverse rules extension" should be ticked and a dll should be specified. This dll must exist in the Extensions folder which is under the FIM programs folder. "Enable Provisioning Rules Extension" must be ticked. http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Witch DLL am I supposed to choose ? did I need a special one ? This would allow sharepoint to import the users, or did I need anything else ?

As I'm not familiar with this sharepoint version of FIM it might be better if you tell me first exactly how the Options page is configured. http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

The option page is configured as you explain earlier, but I got a bunch of choices for the dll's, Exch2007Extension, FunctionLibrary, GALSync, Logging, Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ActiveDirectoryMAExtension, Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LDAPMAExtension, Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ManagementAgent, Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.MetaverseExtension Don't wich one to choose, because I'm tryin to synchronize with an SunOne Server LDAP....

That last one looks promising: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.MetaverseExtension I'm concerned you're having to do this stuff by hand though - surely not normal? Did something go wrong during installation?http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

This dll causes erros "extension-dll-exception" for each entry ....

If you click on the error link you should be able to get some more info from the Stack Trace button. But I'm sure it shouldn't be thins difficult... Have you had any feedback from the sharepoint forums?http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

The stack trace says that: "Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.NoSuchAttributeInObjectTypeException: Attribute "SPS-ObjectExists" is not usable with the object type in question. à Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.Impl.CImageServices.IsValidAttrib(String& pattributeName, Boolean fReadOnlyImage, AttributeType& pType, AttributeFlags& pAttributeFlags) à Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.Impl.EntryState.GetAttribute(String attributeName, IMacroCollectionBase collection) à Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.MetaverseExtension.MVExtensionObject.Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.IMVSynchronization.Provision(MVEntry mventry) à Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.Impl.ScriptHost.InvokeProvisionWorker(ProvisionArguments pArgs) à Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.Impl.ScriptHost.InvokeMv_Provision(_OCTET octMVPreImage, _OCTET octMVDelta)" I'm lookin at the LDAP Schema, and no SPS-ObjectExists attribute seems to exist for any user.... No i didn't ask for help in the Sharepoint forum, I'll try

That sounds like the metaverse schema is not set up properly. It really sounds ot me like something went wrong in the installation and a re-install would be your best bet. Good to get some btdt advice from the sharepoint gurus as well. Good luck.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

I Have reinstalled everything, and now the synchronization and the Importation seems fine, but I can't see the imported users in Sharepoint....

So going back into the sync service - do you see objects in the connector space of the Sharepoint connector?http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis
