Can't restore from Shadow Copy file length over 256 characters

Hello,

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that has a number of really long nested folder names and file names.

1.   Is there any way to restore them from shadow copy - I can't rename the folder in shadow copy and can't rename the file in shadow copy and restore to a root folder because of the total folder/file length.

2.  How do I prevent a user from every copying a file that is too long to the server?

Hi,

You need to map a Network drive to the location to shorten the path. Then you could restore files and folders.

For more detailed information, you could refer to the article below:

For your second question, you may need to run a script to prevent a user from copying a file that is too long to the server.
