Can't install SCE 2007 agent on Windows 2008 R2
HiI can't install the SCE 2007 agent on Windows 2008 R2. When I try to do so I get the following error:"The MOM Server could not start the MOMAgentInstaller service on computer "server" in the time.
This service is used to perform configuration operations on the computer before the Microsoft Operations Manager agent can be configured.
Operation: Agent Install
Install account: DOMAIN\Account
Error Code: 80070102
Error Description: The wait operation timed out. "I then tried installing the agent manually I get "Account Verification Error"Any help is appreciated.

Hello Paulm187,
Can you ping the client by name from the SCE server? Is the remote registry service enabled on the client? Also, on the client, make sure you can access the shared folder on the SCE server which contained the agent installation files.
To manually install the agent, make sure the following ports are opened on the client if there is any firewall on it:
TCP 135 for remote assistance
TCP 445 139 and UDP 137 138 for agent installtion

Hi,
I read this article earlier when I was trying to find a solution for the problem. But I wasn't sure if it would apply to my issue so didn't want to install the hotfix. However, now I will download and apply it and let you know the results.
Thanks

I read the post you talk about, but the 954049 hotfix shoud "provides support to install Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 or Essentials 2007 Service Pack 1 on a Windows Server 2008-based computer". I haves issue with windows 7 client and sce 2007
installed on windows 2003 r2 server. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954049)
Any idea to solve the "not yet contacted problem" for windows 7 client with sce 2007 on windows server 2003?
