Can't install Reporting Services on Vista x64
When I try to install Reporting Services on my Vista x64 machine, the following happens:Firstly, the System Configuration Check shows a "ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement" warning. Clicking on the error message gives the extra details "Failed to find the ASP.Net Version Registration with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)."On the next section, Reporting Services is greyed out and so I can't attempt to install it.I have seen many other posts on this topic, and all seem to suggest that various IIS7 features need to be enabled in the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" section. I have already tried this, and in fact now have every possible IIS7 feature turned on. No change though.I have also installed SQL 2005 SP2. But again going back to the install disk to add Reporting Services led to the same story. So I'm pretty much completely stuck. Can anyone help?

Hi Fagster, It seems that these workarounds worked for other people. Could you try it, please, and let me know how is working? For install 32 bit Reporting Services on Vista run this script before the Reporting Services installation: cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1 For install 64 bit Reporting Services on Vista run this script before the Reporting Services installation: cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 0 Mihaela

I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit, and have the same problems as above. I'm troubleshooting the installation of PHP5 in IIS7 as another issue, and had to run the adsutil.vbs script through the cscript.exe method. I was receiving errors indicating it couldn't find the adsutil.vbs script, so I searched the entire system drive. Nowhere to be found... So I reasoned that it wasn't installed, and sure enough... The fix for me: I thought I had all IIS services installed for Windows Vista. I didn't. I did not have the IIS6 . Control Panel --> Programs and Features --> Turn Windows Features On or Off. Then make sure to install (check) Internet Information Services --> Web Management Tools --> IIS 6 Management Compatibility --> IIS Management Scripts and Tools. I just saved myself trouble down the road and enabled all elements in the IIS hierarchy, so that I won't have to repeat this issue with other services that aren't installed. Sure enough, went back to run the cscript.exe adsutil.vbs command and it executed flawlessly. Ockham's Razor. If it says the file doesn't exist, the file most likely doesn't exist.

I've only ever seen this work with IIS 6. There is no AdminScripts folder in my inetpub folder (IIS 7). Perhaps installing http://www.iis.net/expand/AdministrationPack will add these scripts.
