Can't delete or retire application because of a (Non-existent) dependent Task sequence

Hello.

I am trying to delete an outdated application from my SCCM environment.

However when i try to delete I get the warning that the application cannot be deleted because of 1 dependent task sequence.

I have been through every single task sequence and there is no reference to the application in any of them.

The application also no existing deployment types and and no deployments.

If I look in revision history for the app, it shows Revision 23 but I do not have the option to delete it.

How can I permanently delete this application from SCCM?

Try removing all the revisions from the revision history. You can also try removing the app's deployment type to see where it's referenced.

All the deployment types have already been removed.

These is only one version appearing under Version History (all earlier versions have already been deleted).

Still cannot delete the application.

What does the "References" -tab show you?

There references tab show no relationships between the application and any other application or virtual environment

Retire the application and try deleting it after that.

Already tried that. The application will not delete whether it is Active of Retired. The same Task Sequences Reference message displays when I try to delete the application.

What version are you running (RTM, SP1, or R2)?

In RTM there were a couple of known issues with dependencies and deployments on task sequences not cleaning up properly.

Hi,

Have you tried to delete the revision history after retiring the application?

Yes - however I wouldn't expect that to work anyway since there is only one revision remaining ...

This is an old posting, but since it still is not solved, I would like to chime in that I am experiencing this issue as well.  I am running CM 2012 R2.  I have an application that I can not delete because it tells me that there are 5 task sequences dependent on it.  I am able to retire it though.

I removed all revisions and even deleted the deployment type.

I have tried the script provided by Narcoticoo, but it does not find any dependent task sequences.

I have also utilized a console extension from David Obrien http://www.david-obrien.net/2014/05/configmgr-console-extension-find-referenced-task-sequences/ that does a check for dependencies, and it reported that there were none for that application.

Attempting to remove via the Remove-CMApplication cmdlet displays the same dependency message.  Any one have any other ideas?

I was actually able to query for my application via the Get-CMTaskSequence cmdlet to see that my application was actually still referencing a couple of task sequences.  Once those were modified I could delete the application.
