Can't create site collection because can't find admin users in active directory
It is more active directory member issue rather than SharePoint problem, but it is only reproducable in WSS create site collection page. The problem is that I can't create site collection from the site collection creation page, because I can't select users for first and secondary administrator roles. If I just type the user name and click "Create", the process hangs on collection creation. (the progreess page does not appears)... If I click on "check username", the field (only the user name field hangs).I can create the collection from the command line.I had some issues querieng the AD, but I fixed them. Can somebody directs me what to search for...Thanks in advance...The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. Hi cpavlov, I would first to scope the issue. The issue is related the people picker control, please check the people picker control (such as: grant user permissions and Assign To field in the list ) on the same site and other sites. If you could not use the people picker controls on all the sites, I suggest you to check the network connection between the server and DC and the firewall settings on both of them. If you could not use the people picker controls just for this site, I suggest you to using getproperty of the following command to see if you have misconfigure them. Peoplepicker-distributionlistsearchdomains: Stsadm property (Office SharePoint Server) Peoplepicker-onlysearchwithinsitecollection: Stsadm property (Office SharePoint Server) Peoplepicker-searchadcustomfilter: Stsadm property (Office SharePoint Server) Peoplepicker-searchadcustomquery: Stsadm property (Office SharePoint Server) If you still could not locate the issue, you may need to use Microsoft Network Monitor or other network tools to check the cause of the issue. Peoplepicker-searchadcustomfilter: Stsadm property (Office SharePoint Server) I had a similar problem. Setting the above property solved my case. There was some junk value set for that property. Now I set that to empty. Thanks a lot guys!!!
