Can't create a SSRS 2012 Service Application in Sharepoint 2010.
Hi All, When trying to create a SSRS 2012 Service Application in Sharepoint 2010 I get the error below. Error The database engine instance 'WIN-H8S9EIBOL0N\SharePoint' does not meet the edition requirements for the Reporting Services database. Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: fc8ebb23-44e1-4540-a154-927b6bad4a2b Date and Time: 6/25/2012 6:05:36 PM I have Sharepoint as a standalone installation. Does that matter? The Edition is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1) - 10.0.2531.0 (X64) Mar 29 2009 10:11:52 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) Hints appreciated. Thx Ludwig

Hello Ludwig, Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum. Based on your description, it tried to install the reporting service database on a SQL Server express edition. It is not allowed, and Microsoft announced it in the following MSDN article. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx The report server instance cannot use the SQL Server Express Edition for its database. However, the SQL Server Express Edition instance that is installed by the SharePoint product can exist side-by-side with other Database Engine editions. Therefore, try to install the reporting service 2012 on another edition database to see whether it can solve this issue. Regards, EdwardEdward Zhu TechNet Community Support
