Created a list with 3 items. Created a calc column using the ID = "Item ID is " & ID The calc column works great for a little while, but after I edit some of the list items, the calc column breaks and the ID value is blank. To fix the problem, I go to list settings, go to the calc column definition screen, press OK. The view starts working again. Please read this before you even think about replying --> I DO NOT ADD NEW LIST ITEMS OR DELETE ITEMS TO RECREATE THIS SCENARIO. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ITEMS NOT HAVING ID'S So many people keep posting that this has something to do with new item creation and id's don't exist, etc. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with that because my 3 list items always have the same ID. I verify this by having the actual ID column next to my calc column and the ID column is always populated. I am monitoring the SQL to ensure that the Item ID is never altered or updated by Sharepoint for some reason. It appears that the actual calc column formula gets corrupt in some manner and pressing OK fixes it again. There is little doubt in my mind that this is a flat out bug. Someone from Microsoft please open this as a bug with the Sharepoint team. There are hundreds of hits on this issue and people are developing all sorts of workarounds (creating workflows to duplicate the ID into another column, etc). Clearly people want to use the ID in calc columns and need to rely on it as a primary method for accessing that item.

Hi Kemp, In MOSS there are some limitations available for list view. If you share the calculation field definiation with formula then it would be better to suggest somethig for you. Normaly if you add the list web part with particular (non default view) viwe then you experience this kind of problem. Senthilrajan Kaliyaperumal
