Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry.

Hi,

Time to time we get Cache cluster errors only on APP server in 3 tier environment:

"The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID) threw an exception. More information is included below. Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry."

Job is run by User Profile Service Application - Feed Cache Repopulation Job timer job every 5 min. but we face this error just time to time (like 3 errors a day), not every 5 min.

Get-cachehost shows:

HostName : CachePort                    Service Name            Service Status Version Info
--------------------                    ------------            -------------- ------------
APP1.comp.local:22233 AppFabricCachingService UP             3 [3,3][1,3]
WFE1.comp.local:22233 AppFabricCachingService UP             3 [3,3][1,3]

Get-CacheClusterhealth
Shows Healthy = 5.00 for both servers.

Get-CacheHostConfig -ComputerName $env:computername -CachePort 22233
HostName        : APP1.comp.local
ClusterPort     : 22234
CachePort       : 22233
ArbitrationPort : 22235
ReplicationPort : 22236
Size            : 1024 MB
ServiceName     : AppFabricCachingService
HighWatermark   : 99%
LowWatermark    : 90%
IsLeadHost      : True

Service is running on both servers with Farm account. Account is member of WSS_WPG and WSS_ADMIN_WPG local groups.

App and WFE servers were restarted.

Is any way to troubleshoot this, why we get this error?

Thanks

If you haven't already, you may want to apply AppFabric CU5 and the changes to the AppFabic config in CU3. See if that helps at all.

I have applied CU3 and CU5 but FeedCacheService is still failing in the same way. Is anything else could be done?

Windows and SharePoint are up to date with latest patches.
