Hello everyone, i want to set up a Disater recovery site for Exchange 2007 enviornemnt, So need to know about CAS and HUB Server Roles,  in case of disastor CAS and HUb  can be used for mail routing and client connections (For mailbox SCR, i am aware of )  you please help me with the steps which is required to build a CAS and HUb transport server. if any one has deployed at DR pls help with the steps ... Thanks

For CAS server role
1. I need to run the 1st role with cas server
2. need to mentioned the current webmail.domain address.
3. complete the setup.
4. Export the SAN certificate for CAS Server from existing CAS server and then imported to the secondary cas server at DR site while enabling the IIS services.

Is anything else also i need to enable or setup for CAS.

For New HUB Transport Server at DR Site

1. INstall HUB role.

2. Install SAN certificate and enable it for SMTP

3. One send connector - From existing Primary DC to Secondary DC (DR site)
4. Another Send Connector From  Secondary HUB Server to INternet -
5. Another Receive Conector - From internet to New HUB transport server at DR site

Hi jugalkumar,

Thank you for your question.

We need to configure the URL for Exchange CAS in DR. include OWA, EWS, OAB and so on, we could enable outlook anywhere, then add CAS to NLB or HLB. In option, we could not install SAN certificate for Hub server in DR.

The more details could refer to the following link:

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Jim

Thanks for your quick reply JIM

Issue2:

A: we should configure URL using CAS name which is in DR.

As my query is once i will be configuring the SAME URL which is already is use at Primary Site

suppose xyz.domainname.com is in use at Primary site

And during installing the New CAS server at DR site i will configure the same URL So that won't affect any changes to the exsisting CAS server at DC (Primary Site) Correct ?

Hi ,

For internal URL, you should configure FQDN of Exchange CAS server which is in site B.

For External URL, you should configure xyz.domainname.com.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

hi sorry for two many questions / doubts.

Do We need to configure the URLS for new CAS server  at DR site as the same as site A only when disaster strikes or before that., If before that i hope it won't interrupt the existing CAS connections ??

And for HUB when we installed the hub server roles the default receive connectors created automatically so do i need to disable that or let it be because i want that the New HUB server should be used in the case of Disaster only.

Thanks

Hi jugalkumar,

Issue1:

A: we need to configure the url s for new CAS server at DR site, we could point to CAS  in DNS at HD, when there is a disaster, we could change it to DR.

Issue2:

A: you could disable it and enable it when there is a disaster.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Thanks jim for your reply, just re-confirming like you mentioned that we need to configure the URLs so once we configured the URLS it won't affect any changes to the exisiting production site and it will only ACT OR COMES into PLAY once we will change the DNS entery is that CORRECT ?
