CAN MACRO RUN ON WORD's HEADER & FOOTER REGION?
Hi, Please I have a peculiar issue with my MOSS development. I have been testing auto-numbering, revision numbering, automatic routing, conversion to PDF and lots of other things as required by the business on a Word document meant has a document template for that division in my environment via a macro that pulls values from SharePoint columns, versionings and bla bla bla. Now, everything has been fine all along. Then the division in question brought a finalized version of their templates and numbering is failing massively except manually triggered (which the business does not want). This is the picture: The section on the document where the macro is working is part of the document area where forms can work. However in the final and original template to be used, the area where my macro is working is has been made a part of the header and footer section of the document where forms don't work. The options available is (1) For the business to move that section where my macro is supposed to be working out of the header and footer section (known as sub-document area) back into the document area. They are very rigid about this, they don't want to budge! (2) Revert back to the previous, non officially approved template; they aren't budging too! (3) Find a way to make my macro work in the header and footer area; that's the only option they are forcing down my throat! And this is a Word 2002/2003 type of file (company yet to migrate to 2007) Before I go ahead and tell them technology can't handle that, does anyone have any experience along this line? This is so time-critical, please all cat, dog and mouse suggestions are welcomed right now for me to get a solution... Thanks guys! You've only got one life; help as many people as you can, and enjoy it while it lasts.

Hello everyone, I finally got my above problem solved! The macro did run in the header and footer region, I just tested and tested and confirmed and confirmed it 10 minutes ago and it was right on my production server. Problem however was that in the document library where the said templates resided as template/content type for the division, the macro would NOT run when I click on the document's link directly. BUT if I click the little dropdown arrow beside the document and choose "Edit in Microsoft Office Word" the macro runs and the document is auto-numbered and revision numbers reflect accordingly (the numbering system is unique to the division's activities).I currently don't know and can't pinpoint the reason for the difference between the "link" and the "edit in" options, but I'll have to look into that, when i get wind of it properly, I'll return with the full solutions here. Thanks all! You've only got one life; help as many people as you can, and enjoy it while it lasts.
