Branch distribution Point
Hi to all,
in a new SCCM2007 R3 environenment with a primary site which act as a central site, 44 secondary sites I have to implemented 21 Branch distribution point for sites with small bandwith. Here are my questions:
1.) Could i assign a BDP under the central site or is it only allowed under a secondary site?
2.) How can I distribute a Win7 Image from the BDP (install PXE, etc.)? Here a need a Server?
3.) If I use a PC which act as a Workstations, I've also the limitation for 10 connections, right? and no OS deployment is possible?
Thanks for you feedback.
Regards
Carsten

#1: secondaries can host a BDP
#2: the Win7 .wim-file can be placed on a BDP, but that has nothing to do with PXE boot. A PXE service point can only be installed on server class operating systems.
#3: true (but Win7's limit is 20)

Torsten is right on his answers. Just want to add, that you can also assign a BDP at the central site as long as you have a normal DP in that site.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

I completely concur with Torsten and Kent but would like to add it would be at least worth investigating third-party peer-to-peer content products like Adaptiva's OneSite (or 1E's Nomad) as BDPs are being deprecated with the next version of ConfigMgr.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys
