Branch Dist Points
On Microsoft's site I read this: To deploy a branch distribution point In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site name> / Site Settings. Right-click Site Systems, point to New, and then click Server. Use the New Site System Server Wizard to deploy the branch distribution point on the specific client on which you want to install it. On the System Role Selection page, select the Distribution Point role. On the Distribution Point page, select the Enable as a branch distribution point option. If you want to limit the branch distribution point installation and package files to a specific partition on the client computer or if you want to reserve a specific amount of disk space for the operating system or workstation files, you can set those preferences on this page. I followed this to the letter but when I get to the screen where I should "Enable as a branch distribution point" the radio button is grayed out and I can't enable it. What would cause this radio button to be grayed out? mqh7

Hi - Have you checked the pre requisites ? More details - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680754.aspx Enable as branch distribution point Enables this site system as a branch distribution point. This option is available only on server site systems that are Configuration Manager clients. If this option is not enabled, you should check the branch distribution prerequisites to ensure that all prerequisites have been met. For more information, see Prerequisites for Software Distribution. A branch distribution point can be enabled on a Configuration Manager client that is either a server-class or a workstation-class computer, but some limitations might be imposed on the latter depending on the operating system being used. For more information, see About Standard and Branch Distribution Points. Note If you convert this site from a standard distribution point to a branch distribution point, it cannot be changed back to a standard distribution point without first removing the branch distribution point role.Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. You need to have at least on "real" DP in the site before you can configure a BDP.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi, Please also check the requirements in the following link: About Standard and Branch Distribution Points Branch distribution points also have the following requirements: The computer is running the Configuration Manager client and is assigned to the site. The computer is not a workgroup client. The computer is not running Windows 2000. The computer is not configured to use an Internet-based management point. However, if all the requirements are met but it is still grayed out, please try to remove the client and reinstall it to check.
