Blocking Vista file exploring
Is it possible to block file exploration using steadystate? I want to be able to stop a local user account being able to open windows explorer and navigate file directories. Thanks.

I believe if you Hide Drive C from within SteadyState it should only allow browsing of http files. Not sure though. Hiding drive C will unfortunately also prevent you from saving files to the desktop if that is also a goal. I believe we've had some success by leaving that setting in SS unchecked, but using Group Policy to "Hide these specified Drives" (choosing C:) and allowing within SS the ability to save documents to the desktop. I've never tested this at a granular level on how well this prevents browsing of files on the drive, either through Windows Explorer or through My Computer. My Start Menu is pretty bare to begin with, and I think my My Computer icons have Folder Options hidden. HTH PhilipJealousy is not proof of love, nor proof of emotional immaturity

You can hide drive by enable the restriction User Settings - Windows Restrictions - Hide Drives. Since this will also prevent users from saving data on desktop, users can still save data on USB storage devices.Sean Zhu - MSFT
