Black highlighting of text in Datasheet view
Similar threads here, here, and here. Having a problem with rich text (not plain or enhanced rich) fields in Datasheet View, where anything typed in the field causes all text in the cell to be highlighted in black. I've tried using CSS to force the text background color to white, but the Datasheet View appears to be an ActiveX control that doesn't accept CSS. Other commenters have suggesting not running Norton (we don't) or changing themes/templates (occurs on every theme). I'm only a subsite administrator, so I don't have write access to core.css, (though I could propose a change, has to go through change mgmt, etc) and I'm not convinced that the problem is there anyway. Workarounds are cutting and pasting (as long as you don't type in the cell, it works fine) or just forcing plain text. Centrally managed environment running Windows 7, IE8 (Compatibility View does nothing), Office 2007, and SP 2007. Thoughts?

Hi chasehas, You can update your SharePoint SP3 package. I find it is normal in SharePoint 2007. You can refer to the following link and download it. http://www.microsoft.com/Download/en/details.aspx?id=10404 Thanks, Jack

This issue has more to do with Access than anything else, since access is displaying the text. We were able to solve this problem by using the Access Runtime on client machines. First, we had had been using the Access Database Engine (Free) on client machines in order to use the Datasheet View, however, when we switched to use the Access Runtime (also free), this problem was solved. The Access Runtime can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dlx/default.aspx?id=10910 There are also three service packs that have been created for it and the Office Connectivity components. It was fixed for us without the service packs, but they may be of use in other environments.
