Biztalk 2010 and SSIS licensing
Hey all, I just had a question regarding SSIS licensing and Biztalk. I have a remote SQL Server set up with the database engine, SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS. However, Biztalk 2010 says SSIS needs to be installed on the Biztalk server. Can I install SSIS on the Biztalk server without buying a new license for SQL Server? Or can I just use the SSIS install from the remote SQL Server even though Biztalk says SSIS needs to be installed locally? Thanks, Matt

What kind of a license do you have for your remote SQL Server?Arthur My Blog

It depends on what license you have, not SQL Server edition. If it is per CPU then you need another and if it is per CAL/User then may not. Please refer to BizTalk Licensing FAQ.Arthur My Blog

It is per CPU. If a new SQL license is not an option, can I run SSIS from the SQL Server?

SSIS is a part of a SQL Server instance, you can execute packages remotely but you cannot reference a remote SSIS from within BizTalk. Arthur My Blog
