Best scenario encryption?

Hi All,

My apologies if this isn't the correct spot to ask this.

I have 4 - 4TB drives that need to be encrypted off site. The client is using USB docks to mount the drives to a server in a data center. The encryption process is taking about 40 hours per drive. I am wondering if there is any information around hardware (certain type of dock?) / interface specifics that would allow us to decrease the encryption time?

I understand this is somewhat open to interpretation but could not find any specific information around encrypting via docks online anywhere. Any guidance or input would be appreciated.

Hi Joines,

The Total time taken for the encryption depends upon the disk size. The higher the capacity of the volume will be the more it takes time to get encrypted.

There comes a concept with MBAM 2.0 SP1 and later for the used disk space encryption which means only the used space of the disk will get encrypted which definitely in turn saves time for the encryption than full disk encryption. But I guess it has not yet been implemented as I haven't seen any blog or post on it and I was not able to do so too. It is expected that there will be a GPO setting for that but till now there is not any. Might be if it has been implemented some one from the team of Microsoft can make the confirmation. Don't know the Microsoft releases as I am not a Microsoft Guy :)
