Best (supported) way to upgrade current Windows 7 true 8.1 devices to windows 10 using SCCM 2012 R2 SP1

We have SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1 running which should have full support for Windows 10<o:p></o:p>

I have found the following TechNet article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt426642(v=vs.85).aspx

Which discusses upgrade to win10 from MDT; SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and SCCM Vnext. Reading on the section to upgrade from SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 I'm redirected to another blog where I can download Windows10Upgrade1506.zip. Unfortunate this does not seem to be supported in Production.<o:p></o:p>

Therefore my question is now what is the best supported way to upgrade Win7 & Win8.x client to windows 10?

That ZIP file only contains the required scripts and task sequences. The Windows 10 media is still something you need to download yourself. The article is simply an example of how it can be done. You can use that for your production environment and adjust it if

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your reply. I'm aware of the fact that I only get the scripts and task sequence and that I have to download the media myself.

The confusing part is that on this page https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt426642(v=vs.85).aspx where you can find how to upgrade there is no mention of support in production, while if you look at the referenced blog page http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/06/16/revised-content-for-the-win10-in-place-upgrade-via-task-sequence-for-configmgr.aspx there is a clear statement on the bottom that it is not allowed in prodcuction?

Well everything you build with a Task sequence is not supported by Microsoft.

They are providing you with something they build but it's not part of SCCM.

This is something they made to show the technologies/feature the same apply to all the script you download on the technet or the blogs.

On the Technet article they tell you how to do it but let you build it.

On the Blog some one build it for you and added more stuff. He exported the task sequence. So it's a use at your own risk.

So if you are afraid i would simply read the Technet article and reproduce it myself or at least make sure you understand everything that was provided in the zip file
