Being Prompted for Credentias When Trying to Print
I have several users who are experiencing an issue I've seen raised on here a few times, but I have yet to find a proper resolution. The last thread I found has been closed for some time, but the solution does not apply to my particular situation. We're running SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. Our clients are running Windows 7 Profesional 64-bit. Whenever anyone tries to print from REport Manager, they are prompted for login credentials. The only credentials that are accepted are an Administrator's. These users are not admin's. The work arounds I have found on Microsoft Connect and on the SSRS forum do not work. Connect says to diable "protected mode" in IE. THat is not an otion for us. Also, the issue occurs with FireFox as well. Another "solution" Microsoft has ut out there is to just go ahaead and disable UAC or make the user an Admin. Tht is also not an option. The whole point of UAC - I thought - was to prevent users from installing unauthorized/maliscious software. The last solution dealt specifically with SQL Server 2008 RTM - not R2. I have applied CU13 to our SQL Server box and are still encountering this issue. Has ANYONE found a solution for this??? A. M. Robinson

Hi ansonee, Reporting Services Print does not print on Firefox. Is it possible you are using some other viewer for the reports? If you are using the built-in RS Print feature, clients need to have permissions to install the print control. If your systems do not allow users to be admins or have permissions to install Active X controls, then you need to install it for them. If, after installation, your users are being prompted again, there is something else going on in that environment I am not aware of how to fix.Brad Syputa, Microsoft Reporting Services This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties.
