Barcode Fonts
I'm using SSRS 2005 and need to include a barcode onto a series of reports. Is there a default that I am missing that is included with SSRS or do you have a suggested package that I should download for creating the labels?Chris

Hi Chris, From your descriptions, you want to use Barcode in your report. If I have misunderstood, please do not hesitate to let me know. By default, SQL Server Reporting Services does not include a Barcode font. We can install third party Barcode font to render a barcode in the reports. To use Barcode font in a report, please follow these steps: 1. Install a Barcode font on both the server and client by copying the font to C:\Windows\Fonts 2. In report designer, select the textbox which is used to display Barcode, and then change the FontFamily to be the Barcode font we installed before. For your information, here is a Free Barcode font for testing: http://www.barcodesinc.com/free-barcode-font/ Please feel free to ask, if you have any more questions. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi, we're using a barcode font for printing barcode labels. We installed the font on our server like it's described in this post. When we try the report (SSRS 2008) on the server everything works fine - the barcode is shown correctly. When we render the report on a client's machine it's not working - instead of the barcode a number like, *7801011112* is shown. We have installed the font on the client's machine, too and we restarted both - server and client - after installing the font. Does onyone know why this is happen? I thought the report is renderd on the server; but why is the barcode not shown correctly? Any ideas are wellcome :) Thanks, Fidy

You can use Aspose.BarCode for SSRS to add barcodes in SSRS reports. The complete help on using Aspose.BarCode for SSRS and incorporating the barcodes in your reports can be obtained from Aspose.BarCode for SSRS documentation. You can also keep in touch with our support and development teams via our forums. This is a quite flexible solution for adding barcodes in reports and can be used easily.I work as developer evangelist at Aspose. I love to explore and learn new technologies and help other developers along the way.

Hi, I mean no disrespect but this is b**s***! I've worked sevral days on this and I'm getting very frustrated. I used several barcode fonts, in design everything looks great, but when you click print layout, or render the report in code (EMF-type), there are lot's of spacing added between the barcode-characters. Fonts where installed onto client and server, both rebooted. My frustration grows with the additionally problem that VS 2010 doens't allow BI projects anymore, I was able to do all this in elder BI projects. So we're forced to use the Report Builder 3.0. Only thing is, you can't add any dll to use in report with Report Builder 3.0. So I can't use any 3th party tool neither. So Fonts don't work, 3th party dll's like the CodePlex Barcode Rendering Framework don't work... Dear MicroSoft could you please give a simple example how I can add a barcode on a report using Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS 2008 R2? As I searched for days, I found no such example, neither anyone who've done this in the past, making SSRS 2008 R2 useless for us since all our documents use Barcodes. Would someone be able to give me a working sample of a EAN-13 barcode in a report using SSRS 2008 R2 and Report Builder 3.0 and tell me how they got there? Kind regards, A frustrated .NET developer :)
