Backup error using Moss 2007 backup - two AdminContent db
Hi, I get this error while backup my Sharepoint farm, Object SPSkyrr_AdminContent failed in event OnBackup. For more information, see the error log located in the backup directory. SqlException: Cannot open backup device '\\skyrr-filesrv2\backup$\spbr000F\00000023.bak'. Device error or device off-line. See the SQL Server error log for more details. BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally, I used this share for years and had no problems and this error comes in the middle of the backup and some db have been backed up. in the xml I see, Object SPSkyrr_AdminContent failed in event OnBackup. For more information, see the error log located in the backup directory. SqlException: BACKUP DATABASE permission denied in database 'SPSkyrr_AdminContent'. BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally. The user is domain admin an is a dbowner on all Sharepoint db's . What I find strange is that there are two AdminContent db shown in the backup valuation? Web Application Web Application Content and configuration data for this Web application. SPSkyrr_AdminContent Content Database Content for the Web Application. SPSkyrr_AdminContent Content Database Content for the Web Application. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks, StjaniKristjn

hi I have run into this before; make sure the "backup" folder is shared and write permissions are allowed. Also make sure to use the UNC path and that the "backup" folder is not inheriting permissions from parent. I strongly suspect that is the issue Mai Omar | Senior Solutions Developer | ITEgyptCorp | Email: maio@ITegyptCorp.com | Blog: http://maiomar.itegyptcorp.com

Try using a UNC path instead of "C:\SharePoint\backup' for the directory. A local path will absolutely never work if you're running this on a machine that is not also your SQL server, and I've had local paths fail even if everything is on the same box. Use a UNC like the example in the UI and you'll have better luck. When I tried to manually backup the database from SQL to the same share, there was message Access denied in Application log. I found this: http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles...4025.html?Ad=1 if SQL server runs under Local system, therefore it hasn't access to share Mai Omar | Senior Solutions Developer | ITEgyptCorp | Email: maio@ITegyptCorp.com | Blog: http://maiomar.itegyptcorp.com
