Backup and restore on different server
I am taking a backup of a sharepointsite through sharepoint central administration...I am getting the spbr000x folder in the required folder..... Now I copy this folder on another machine...... When I go to the Central Administration of this new folder and try to restore the backup from the specific location I get "No backup history was found at the following location. Please select a different directory" message...... I know thepath specified is correctWhat could be the problem? Thanks in advanceHM.

Hi Huzefa,Are you trying to access it using a UNC?What I normally do is share the folder temporarily, and access it via the UNC:\\MOSSBAK\BackupfilesEnsure that the user you're accessing it from has sufficient rights to this share.Let me know how it goes.Regards,W

Another thing to keep in mind is that using backup/restore is not supported across farms. You should use stsadm export/import to migrate content across farms.

Hi,Outside the Spbr000x folder , you can find a file spbrtoc.xml which is having backup/restore history and details. So copy that file too.But i prefer tofollow Gary's note above.RegardsXavier Ravi

I would also follow Gary's method if possible.Kyall
