Backup Lotus Notes 8.5 data with USMT 4.0
Hi Everyone, I'm working on Migrating WIN XP to Windows 7 Using USMT 4.0. Most of the things are working fine However we have Lotus Notes 8.5 installed on all the XP machines and USMT 4.0 doesn't backup the Lotus data I've read few blogs stating that USMT 4.0 have support for Lotus Notes 8 and above but it doesn't seems to be working by default. Can someone please provide me guidance on how do i backup Lotus Notes data. Regards,

see this too. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmgrosd/thread/a7e58b52-f1a2-4458-811f-fac1ed88d3b7 The mignotes.xml I used in my USMT 4 process is below. You need to change your scanstate / loadstate command lines to specify the mignotes.xml. Here is the scanstate log which show the specified mignotes.xml : \\sccm-noir.noir.waltonstreet.com\SMSPKGE$\LEI00033\X86\scanstate.exe C:\_SMSTaskSequence\StateStore /v:5 /o /c /hardlink /nocompress /efs:hardlink /i:\\sccm-noir.noir.waltonstreet.com\SMSPKGE$\LEI00033\X86\MigApp.xml /i:\\sccm-noir.noir.waltonstreet.com\SMSPKGE$\LEI00033\X86\MigNotes.xml /i:\\sccm-noir.noir.waltonstreet.com\SMSPKGE$\LEI00033\X86\MigDocs.xml /i:\\sccm-noir.noir.waltonstreet.com\SMSPKGE$\LEI00033\X86\UDIOffline.xml /l:X:\windows\TEMP\SMSTSLog\USMTcapture.log /progress:X:\windows\TEMP\SMSTSLog\USMTcapture.prg /offlineWinDir:C:\Windows Mignotes.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <migration urlid="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/custom"> <component type="System" context="User"> <displayName _locID="miguser.Notes">Lotus Notes</displayName> <paths> <path type="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data</path> </paths> <role role="Settings"> <detects> <detect> <condition>MigXmlHelper.DoesObjectExist("File","%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data")</condition> </detect> </detects> <rules> <include filter="MigXmlHelper.IgnoreIrrelevantLinks()"> <objectSet> <pattern type="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\* </pattern> <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.nsf] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.id] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.ndk] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.dic] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.ntf] </pattern > </objectSet> </include> <merge script="MigXmlHelper.DestinationPriority()"> <objectSet> <pattern type="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\* </pattern> <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.nsf] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.id] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.ndk] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.dic] </pattern > <pattern type ="File">%CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA%\Lotus\Notes\Data\*[*.ntf] </pattern> </objectSet> </merge> </rules> </role> </component> </migration>

Thanks for your response. I've created an XML File called as MigNotes.xml to migrate Lotus Notes 8.5 data from XP to Win 7 Scanstate was succesfull, however Loadstate has failed restore the data. Thanks for your response. No, I'm not restoring local profile, only the domain profiles. I've noticed one behaviour, which I'm not sure if it's something I'm not doing right. Loadstate works fine if i remove the Mignotes.xml file from Customized how user profiles are capatured & Restored. This file i've created to backup and restore Lotus Notes 8.5 data as part of USMT 4.0, as advised by Mr Mark in the beginning of this blog. If i add Mignotes.xml files than scanstate seems to be working fine, however loadstate fail. Regards & Thanks AnilHappy

see this post, looks like a similar loadstate issue. This seems to suggest you need to restore all profiles. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmgrosd/thread/31158c91-c664-4f4d-98fe-4a197a977421
