Backup Exclusion for OpsMgr Agent Installations
Hi Larry Personally, from an agent perspective, I wouldn't back up any SCOM folders. If the agent is corrupt then I would reinstall the agent rather than try to recover binaries. For a full server restore, the agent should come back online and download any updates though I'd be tempted to flush the health service state to ensure this happens. What do you use for your windows backups? Hello Graham, As we are talking about a full server restore scenario, by removing the agent's "Health Service State" folder from our backup policy, when the server is restored and the service comes back online, it would be equivalent to performing a Flush Health Service State and Cache operation against the agent, which I agree would be desirable in such a situation. We will continue to backup the binaries as it streamlines the restore process by avoiding the involvement of the monitoring group following a server restore. Thanks for you input. Larry P.S. We are using NetBackup.

Good day, Considering the fact that the OpsMgr agent rebuilds it if it is missing, can we safely exclude the following folder structure from our backup schedule: C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\*.* Also, are there any other folders/files that can be safely excluded (along with explanation as to why)? Thanks, Larry
