BMC Patrol migration to SCOM 2007 R2 or PSL conversion possibilities
Morning Everyone, Hope you all well. I am currently about to start a project and just wondered if anyone has ever completed a migration from BMC Patrol to SCOM or whether everything that is configured using PSL (Patrol Scripting Language) in BMC Patrol has to be recreated in SCOM. The majority of the queiries seem to look at log files and content within as well as time stamps and I can do this using the excellent articles Kevin Holman has published. I suppose what I am looking to find out is whether there is a shortcut like converting the PSL into either VBScript or PowerShell. Would be very grateful to hear all possible solutions, Mark

In a case like this, you would inventory what you have in Patrol, assess the best method to do this in SCOM (as often you can recreate scripted items in a simple wizard. We've performed a few migrations from other enterprise monitoring systems, and this is necessary in order to determine what exists in native OpsMgr MPs (which is usually a significant percentage), what is no longer needed and what must be authored from scratch.Pete Zerger, MVP-OpsMgr and SCE | http://www.systemcentercentral.com
