Thanks Jason for reply. i will go through link you provided. to add one more thing here.. My client machine is win7 64bit and I am trying to install 32 bit application. is it something that my BITS is not allowing 32 bit version of file or package.

Hello Jason

I have checked blog and cross verified conditions. My client can find proper MP, DP. it downloads few files from DP and stops. afterwards it throws waiting for contents and generates event ID 60. it can download all other packages except this one. this is for JRE 55 x86 and my machine is Win7 64bit.

please suggest

If this is the only package with issues then resent the package to the DPs.

That blog isn't about conditions, it's about digging into the logs and troubleshooting. Step 6 in particular refers to reviewing your IIS configuration and making sure that IIS is not blocking files which is does by default.

No, this is irrelevant. A file is a file is a file. 64-bit vs. 32-bit binaries only become an issue when they are executed. When transferred, a file is just a bunch of 1's and 0's.

If any of the packages is not getting downloaded then i do have a solution for it by reset the local Bitsadmin which can be done on the Windows 7 machines.

In this case it seems to be an IIS filtering issue which can be found using the IIS logs from your sccm server for the machines IP if its being blocked you will get 401 error so its an IIS issue.

Solution for that IIS filtering is:

I compared applicationHost with other server and file extensions allowed. found no issues, now many other WSUS patch package also has issues in downloading. can you help me some guidelines to reinstall/repair BITS on server. i have WK8 R2 STD SP1.

Sorry, but you are totally not following what is being said. IIS by default blocks certain things including certain file extensions. If your package contains files with these extensions, you need to allow IIS to deliver these files. This has *nothing* to do with comparing it to another server as both would simply have the default configuration. As outlined in that blog, you need to actually review the IIS logs and troubleshoot what's going on -- we can't magically tell you.

Also, BITS is a client side component, there is no server side facility to repair. There's also no evidence of it being broken on the client side here. Not downloading a file is not evidence of this at all.

We cannot troubleshoot this for this, you need to actually open the log files and review them. If you need additional hands-on troubleshooting assistance, you need to bring in outside help and/or open a case with Microsoft CSS.
