BITS Throttling Configuration
We currently have Throttling "applied to Brach Distribution Points and all clients". The window is 7am-5pm and Max Transfer rate is 20(Kbps). However "Allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling windows is un checked. My question is what happens then outside of the 7am-5pm window if that setting is not turned on? Does it just continue to use the 20Kbps rate?

"Allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling windows" is un checked Select this option to allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling window if not enabled it won't BITs download. Side Note: Group Policy is more granular and flexible to configure BITS than what the limited ConfigMgr options provide.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi, "Allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling windows" setting means allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling window. This option allows Configuration Manager 2007 clients to use separate BITS settings outside of the specified window. Yes An00p, if upon option is not checked no BITS download will be started outside the throttlling window. When you specify BITS settings by using the Configuration Manager 2007 console, they are stored in the local policy of the client computer. These settings might override BITS settings configured by another application. Additionally, if you use Windows Group Policy to configure BITS settings, the settings specified in the Group Policy override those configured by Configuration Manager 2007. Thanks

So if we have bits enabled, and we have the window of 7am-5pm, but we don't have "Allow BITS downloads outside of the throttling windows" checked does that mean NONE of my packages will be downloaded during this time? Or will they still download, but without using bits?

We had this disabled and no downloads where happening outside of this window. We enabled and our downloads started happening again. Thanks
