BIDS - The file has been modified outside of the source editor
Hi all, Lately whenever I make a change to a package in my solution - I receive a message: "The file has been modified outside of the source editor. Do you want to reload it?" Has anyone else come across this before? How do you fix? Thanks, Clay

Hi, There could be someone who works on the same solution at the same time. When he/she saves it visual studio is warning you that it is modified by someone else while you are already working on it. Nothing to fix here i think. Regards OnurBI and ERP Senior Consultant @ Nexum Bogazici If it is, Please dont forget to mark as answered or at least vote as helpful if the post helps you in any ways.

Thank Onur, but no one else is working on it.

Then there's something else that's editing that package. You should be able to see this happen by watching the folder where your package is. Open the file in BIDS and note the modification date/time on the package. When you save your package with BIDS, you'll see that date/time update. When you see the notification that the file has changed outside of BIDS, you'll also see that date/time has been updated. It's not possible for us to know what process changed that file - but you may want to check if there's anything in the Task Manager running that could possibly be modifying your files on you. Thanks for the reply Todd, i kept an eye on the date/time stamp of my packages - none were unexpectedly udpated. I have now started a new solution and added all my packages to it. Issues are gone. Thanks.
