BES and FIM
Hi, Excuse my ignorance, but if Blackberry enterprise Server integrates with AD & Exchange - why would someone want to integrate it with FIM...if the AD MA already exists. What would a BES MA be able to do that a AD/Exchange MA cannot do? Thanks.

ask OCG people, they had BES MA based on XMA. as for me - I have couple of BES servers but I would not integrate it with FIM as activation for new BBs happens very rare for me. what I would like BES MA to do is to block BES user account once AD account has expired, but I'm to lazy to deploy BES MA only to block leavers...

So BES MA would be used to activate new BB users...is that it? A whole MA just for that?

While BES integrates with Exchange and AD, that is merely so a Blackberry device synchronizes with mailbox. There are other pieces of Blackberry operation that are not exposed in AD or Exchange. A separate BES MA is required to manage the Blackberry Enterprise Server in order to provision/de-provision users and expose other Blackberry-specific info, typically the Blackberry device PIN and some wireless service data. Thank you guys - now FIM 2010 does not have a BES MA...so where do we get it from?, buy from 3rd party (which one?), write from scratch?
